2K Brings Onboard Apex Legends Developer to Revitalize Struggling Hero Shooter Ambitious Title
2K Games has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the upcoming over-the-shoulder roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.
Leadership Transition Follows Mixed Feedback
The new appointee takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing early showing last autumn.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive a key figure informed team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the requirement for a distinct vision.
Ismailer stated that the team is now reimagining the project with a revised vision, aiming to address gamer demands.
A Pattern of Strategic Hires
This announcement follows a comparable move taken by the publisher in August, when they recruited an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.

Team—
I know you all just finished your gathering - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the positive developments. Previously I sent you all a message, I expressed the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most driven and innovative developers we have had the pleasure to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s Project ETHOS demo was enlightening. It confirmed the potential of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It revealed the requirement for a more distinct brand.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve come. You took the input to mind and reimagined Project ETHOS with a renewed goal - one that’s positioned to achieve its potential to our players.
The belief in Project ETHOS grows every day. To advance the incredible progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the latest Studio Head of the team. Following several months of conversations, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.
His management and expertise in the competitive gaming field is extensive, having devoted the recent years producing and leading some of the most popular franchises in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
Please join me in greeting him soon. We are all eager to persist witnessing the development of Project ETHOS in the time to come.
David

Brinkman currently serves in the position of executive producer and head of production at Respawn Entertainment for Apex Legends. Brinkman previously was employed at Treyarch and Activision in various production roles on the Call of Duty games, and, prior to that, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.
Game Details and Vision
The upcoming game was revealed in last year together with a early access event. Initially, the developers presented the game as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an innovative evolution on the style."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in live gameplay to suit your personal playstyle," the description reads. "Challenge the rivals with fresh skills, risks, and challenges that change every round. Will you safely extract with your hard-earned loot? Alternatively take a risk, risk it all, and hope your team can achieve the highest spot? The option is yours."
Project Ethos has not yet received an announced release date or consoles, but enthusiasts can expect more updates as creation progresses.
