Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Questers and Planners parties.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
