Just as the recent storm tore through the northern region the prior day, Manchester City overwhelmed United away at the Etihad. It was a emphatic three goal triumph for their manager's side due to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their title credentials as they reinforced their position at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Setbacks for United

This outcome represented successive league setbacks for the United manager's side for the maiden instance since last May, putting them a significant margin off the top team with their championship aspirations in serious doubt.

Manchester United's ability to manage domestic and continental soccer with a limited squad has been a hotly discussed issue since they qualified for the UCL.
